The successful Candidate will have their FRCPC in Anesthesia; demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team; superior interpersonal communication skills; and a strong commitment to delivering innovative anesthetic care. The Pillars of South Health Campus include collaboration, patient and family-centered care, wellness, and innovation.
Applicants must be a qualified MD or equivalent, with specialist certification in anesthesia, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta for independent anesthesia care.
Preferences will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:
- Fellowship training and/or evidence of advanced skills/expertise in Regional Anesthesia
- Acute pain management leadership and program development
- Fellowship training in Chronic Pain Management, with motivation to participate in the SHC Transitional Pain Services
- Fellowship training and/or evidence of advanced skills in Perioperative Ultrasound
- Advanced degrees in Medical Education/Simulation
- Evidence of advanced leadership experience and skills (e.g. previous advanced administrative roles)
- Research
- Patient Safety/QA
Required competencies include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (required for non-hospital surgical facility work).
Candidates must possess membership with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (with current maintenance of certification), and must demonstrate a strong interest in teaching. Priority will be given to candidates with 5 years or more of clinical experience.
