Clinical Associate Pediatric Critical Care
Stollery Children’s Hospital, Edmonton Corridor
Alberta Health Services (AHS), Department of Pediatrics and Medical Affairs, Edmonton Corridor is inviting Pediatricians/Anesthesiologist with specialist training and suitable experience in Pediatric Intensive Care to apply for a position with the Stollery Children’s Hospital in the Edmonton Corridor.
The Stollery Children’s Hospital provides major tertiary/quaternary support to a vast geographic region encompassing Western Canada. The hospital provides a full array of standard critical care services in support of the children of Northern Alberta. In addition, the hospital supports multiple regionalized programs including the Western Canadian Children’s Heart Network (over 400 cardio-pulmonary bypass surgeries per year), Western Canadian Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension program, solid organ transplant programs (heart, liver, lung, small bowel, kidney), active extracorporeal life support and ventricular assist device (ECLS and VAD) programs as well as a busy Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team.
Responsibilities
As a Clinical Associate within Pediatric Critical Care at the Stollery the successful candidate will be expected to provide one in four in-house after hours medical clinical coverage to all children within the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) or the Pediatric Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (PICU) as well as provide consultative service for pediatric critical care from within the Stollery Children’s Hospital. At all times you will be working under the ongoing supervision and direction of the attending pediatric intensivist. In addition, you will be expected to participate in the on-call schedule for Pediatric Critical Care Transport by providing two dedicated on-call shifts per four-week block.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will be contracted with Medical Affairs, Edmonton Corridor, AHS and shall have completed training in Pediatrics or Anesthesia that is equivalent with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons training in Canada. In addition, the successful applicant must have training equivalent to Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. The successful applicant must be eligible for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta in Pediatrics or Anesthesia. Appropriate exposure to management in a high complexity PICU and PCICU is required. Appropriate experience and exposure to ECLS/VAD management will be required.
This position is for Sponsorship eligible with Alberta Health Services.
