Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Corridor Clinical Department Hospital Lead (CCDHL), Surgical Hospitalist - Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH).

 

This 0.15 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Corridor Clinical Depamtnet Lead, Family Medicine, the Hospital Medical Director, RAH, and the Corridor Clinical Section Lead, Surgical Hospital Medicine.  The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Surgical Hospitalist program at RAH, and is accountable for program review, development and improvement. This position provides input into the development of policies and criteria for procedures as they relate to Surgical Hospital and Family Medicine, as well as reviewing and recommending privileges for physicians working within the Facility.  Other major accountabilities include:

  1. Quality Management – ensuring the ongoing monitoring of clinical/medical practice in the Surgical Hospitalist Program at RAH, including ensuring that processes and practices are in place to promote best practice;
  2. Resource Management – supporting recruitment and retention of physicians to the Program, scheduling and participating in planning to anticipate future needs;
  3. Performance Management – supporting by-laws processes and performance reviews of all physician staff appointed within the Program;
  4. Academic Liaison – ensuring support at the site level for medical learner teaching.

     

The position an expected term of 3 years.

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation, along with a passion for quality and patient safety while working as part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant medical leadership experience and will be regarded by their peers as a strong clinician.

 

Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
