Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Corridor Clinical Section Hospital Lead (CCSHL), General Internal Medicine (GIM) - Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH).
This 0.20 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL), Medicine, the Hospital Medical Director (HMD), RAH, and the Corridor Clinical Department Hospital Lead (CCDHL), Medicine – RAH. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
The Section Hospital Lead, General Internal Medicine (GIM), provides clinical and operational leadership to ensure high standards of care, strong teaching and research support, and consistent application of GIM‑related policies and procedures. The role oversees one of the largest GIM services in the province, including more than 160 acute inpatient beds, a 30‑bed Transition Unit, inpatient teaching and non‑teaching teams, the Medical Observation Unit, inpatient consultation services, and outpatient pre‑operative and urgent GIM clinics.
Based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital—one of Edmonton’s largest hospitals with 850+ beds and nearly half a million patient visits annually—the GIM service is central to medical admissions from the Emergency Department and direct admissions from peripheral sites.
The position has an expected term of 3 years.

They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
