The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenure-track appointment with the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.
The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS), invites applications for an academic position within the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. This position is a part of the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP). This full-time (1.0 FTE), tenure-track (contingent) position comprises approximately 35% time for clinical service and 65% time for academic pursuits, divided between research, teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable).
Responsibilities
● Clinical: Provide excellent patient care for patients presenting to the Stollery Emergency Department. Ensure ongoing personal medical education to ensure care is provided according to the most up-to-date evidence and guidelines.
● Education and Mentorship: Teach and mentor learners at all levels in clinical and academic settings.
● Research Contribution: Advance the division’s research portfolio, including facilitating funding opportunities, promoting academic productivity, and supporting faculty in achieving high-impact publications. Successfully compete for research funding and maintain an active, independent research program that contributes to the division’s academic strength.
● Collaboration and Engagement: Build partnerships within the university, healthcare system, and broader emergency medicine community to strengthen the division’s academic and clinical impact.
Qualifications
Interested applicants must have:
● MD degree (or equivalent)
● Completed residency training in Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine
● Complete subspecialty training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
● Demonstrated clinical experience caring for Pediatric Emergency patients in a busy tertiary care setting as an attending physician
● Certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent
● Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
Considered an asset:
● Advanced research or educational training (i.e. MSc, MEd, or PhD)
● Experience and success in research, with a proven record of research achievements as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications
