This position is part of Recovery Alberta, supporting our ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services across the province.
Recovery Alberta is inviting applications for the position of Psychiatrist to work in the Addiction Psychiatry Consultation Service. Under the purview of Virtual Addiction Medicine Services, will offer rapid connection with an Addiction Psychiatrist for clients with addiction and significant comorbid psychiatric disorders. The service will provide rapid psychiatric assessment, treatment and ongoing case management in the community via virtual means.
The successful candidate should be or apply for an Academic appointment with the University of Alberta or the University of Calgary Psychiatry Department and help with teaching Residents and students that come to the area.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Obtain and maintain a Recovery Alberta Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services.
- Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies.
- Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within Recovery Alberta.
- Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.
- Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care
Additional Information
FTE: Multiple positions with various FTE based on availability.
Reporting Relationship:
The practitioner will report to the Senior Medical Director, Addiction Services.
Term:
Start Mid July 2026

Required Qualifications:
· The successful applicant must hold an MD or its equivalence.
· The successful applicant will preferably be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry.
· Obtain and maintain a Recovery Alberta Medical Staff Appointment.
· Recent and relevant experience (within the past 12 months) in all areas of practice required, as the Most Responsible Physician.
