Key accountabilities of the Division Director/Section Chief will include, but will not be limited to, providing strategic leadership to advance the division’s clinical, research, and educational missions. This includes ensuring excellence in patient care, supporting multidisciplinary clinics, and fostering collaborations to enhance dermatologic services. The Director will work closely with the Residency Program Director to create a strong learning environment, encourage faculty involvement in teaching, and support continuing medical education. Advancing the division’s research portfolio will be a key focus, including facilitating funding opportunities, promoting academic productivity, and supporting faculty in achieving high-impact publications. The Director is also expected to successfully compete for research funding and maintain an active, independent research program that contributes to the division’s academic strength. The Section Chief provides clinical leadership for Dermatology in the Edmonton Zone and is responsible for assuring Dermatology clinical services are delivered in a safe, efficient and effective setting with AHS facilities. The role involves faculty mentorship, guiding recruitment efforts, and building partnerships within the university, healthcare system, and broader dermatology community to strengthen the division’s academic and clinical impact.
The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Associate or Full Professor, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Medicine Health Services Program (AMHSP), and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
