Alberta Health Services and the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, invites applications for a Academic Trauma & Acute Care General Surgery Locum Physician. Opportunity for part-time or full-time employment for a period of up to one year.The succesful applicant will be based primarily at the University of Alberta Hospital. Up to 12 weeks of trauma coverage across the Edmonton Zone is available. Acute Care General Surgery coverage will be potentially be available at both trauma sites (University of Alberta Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital).

Alberta Health Services is Canada’s largest and only provincial health region providing services for a population of over 4.2 million people.

The General Surgery program presently consist of 63 General Surgeons and provides service to the City of Edmonton and surrounding communities. We provide specialized care in all aspects of General Surgery, including hepatobiliary surgery, transplantation, genercal sugrical oncology, heand and neck surgery, endocrin surgery, trauma, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, upper GI surgery, bariatric surgery, breast surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. 

Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in General Surgery and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
