ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To participate as the Section of Orthopedic surgery representative for pediatric orthopedics on the site’s surgical services committee and any other site advisory committees as needed.

 2. To organize emergent and scheduled Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Services at the site including development of a call schedule, allocation of OR blocks and clinics.

3. To advise the Section Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics and the Section Chief of Surgery and the Zone Clinical Department Head on any issues relating to personnel, bed utilization and resources at the site.

4. To provide feedback on section members and participate in periodic reviews of section members at the site.

 5. To review patient, nursing and other concerns pertaining to section members at the site.

 6. To support the Section of Orthopedic Surgery and Section of Pediatric Surgery in search and selection processes for members at the site.

7. To support the Section Chiefs and the Zone Clinical Department Head in workforce planning and other forms of strategic planning for the site.

 8. To provide information for the Department of Surgery annual report, or any other materials relevant to the site, as requested by Section Chief and the Zone Clinical Department Head.

9. To participate in quality assurance reviews as required by the site with matters relevant to orthopedic surgery.

10. To organize regular safety review case rounds for the section members at the site. 11. To participate in the NSQiP program at the site by evaluating data presented and helping to develop care pathways and clinical practice guidelines.

12. To work in concert with other Orthopedic Surgery site leads, as required, to improve patient care, optimize synergy and minimize duplication of efforts throughout the Calgary Zone.

13. To actively participate in planning and coordination of all clinical and academic activities as a member of the Calgary Zone, Bone and Joint Program.

14. To assist the Section Chiefs with reviews of patient concerns involving any of the Orthopedic surgeons on site

 

Educational Responsibilities

 

  1.  To support Orthopedic educational and research activities at the site.

 

Research Responsibilities

1.    To enable and integrate research initiatives of the section and the department into the programs at the site.

2.    To promote collaborative research opportunities and academic exchange within the department and between departments.
