Mental Health, Recovery Alberta is inviting applications for the position of an Adult Community Psychiatrist to establish a part-time practice in the community of Drumheller. The successful candidate will provide Psychiatric support in the form of consultations and ongoing treatments for the Drumheller and surrounding area. They are expected to lead the multidisciplinary team and provide consultations to the other members of the team and the local hospital.
The successful candidate should apply for an Academic appointment with the University of Alberta Psychiatry Department and help with teaching Residents and students that come to the area.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
- Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
- Establish and maintain part-time community based practice within the community;
- Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Addiction & Mental Health;
- Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
- Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
- Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care
Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.
Required Qualifications:
- Have licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
- Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
- Have specialist certification or equivalent in Psychiatry
- Recent and relevant experience (within the past 12 months) in all areas of practice required, as the Most Responsible Physician;
