Recovery Alberta, Central Zone, and the Department of Addiction & Mental Health, invites applications for the position of an Adult Community Psychiatrist to establish a part-time practice in the community of Sylvan Lake and rural clinics in Central Zone. This position requires a scope of practice that includes: supporting community/rural clinics in Sylvan Lake and Central Zone, Addiction and Mental Health, leading the multidisciplinary team and providing consultations to the other members of the team. The successful candidate should apply for an Academic appointment with the University of Alberta Psychiatry Department and help in teaching residents and students that come to the area.

 

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Obtain and maintain a Recovery Alberta Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
  • Abide by the Recovery Alberta Medical Staff Bylaws, the Recovery Alberta Medical Staff Rules and Recovery Alberta policies;
  • Establish and maintain a part-time community based practice within the community;
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Addiction & Mental Health;
  • Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
  • Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
  • Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care

 

Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
  • Have specialist certification or equivalent in Psychiatry, or currently be enrolled in a Psychiatry Residency Program;
  • Recent and relevant experience in all areas of practice required;
