Anatomic or General Pathologist
Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector, in partnership with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a qualified full time Anatomic or General Pathologist.
This position will join a group of general and anatomical pathologists, medical microbiologists and clinical chemists providing laboratory services at our Edmonton Base Hub Lab. (EDMBL). The successful candidate is required to have excellent skills in surgical pathology. Part of the role includes education for colleagues, allied health professionals and trainees in postgraduate as well as undergraduate training programs.
Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alberta Health Services (AHS). APL is the sole provider of lab services in the province of Alberta. APL provides expert consultation to assist care providers and users of the service. Job Summary & Responsibilities
The General or Anatomical Pathologist must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics, must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

· Ability to balance service and quality imperative in a resource-sensitive environment
· Ability to work collaboratively and being an overall team play

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology. Subspecialty training and / or years of practice in areas of Dermatopathology, Cytopathology, Gyne pathology of Gastrointestinal pathology will be considered an asset. The ability to contribute collegially to the group practice and laboratory operations will be an important factor in candidate selection. The successful incumbent will also be required to obtain the appropriate professional liability coverage.
