Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector, in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a qualified full time Anatomic or General Pathologist with Dermatopathology fellowship training or expertise in Dermatopathology. This position will join a group of general and anatomical pathologists, medical microbiologists and clinical chemists providing laboratory services at our Edmonton Base Hub Lab (EDMBL). The successful candidate is required to have excellent skills in both dermatopathology and surgical pathology. 

 

The Department of Lab Medicine & Pathology, with 90+ pathologists’ functions as a Center of Excellence, supported by state-of-the-art ancillary testing capabilities (immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics and molecular pathology). The successful candidate must have the ability to work in a setting with a similar case complexity. 

 

Job Summary & Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will provide medical reporting and consultation for Dermatopathology and Surgical Pathology cases and working closely with clinicians in dermatology, and varying practices. Clinical duties will also include offering medical oversight to technical and regulatory processes and procedures, including quality assurance, and occurrence management. The Pathologist must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics and must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs. Teaching and interaction with a wide range of learners from undergraduate through postgraduate studies including residents from anatomical and general pathology are expected.

Qualifications  

Minimum qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology. Dermatopathology Fellowship training is required and/ or years of dermatopathology specialty practice and a proven track record of collegiality and collaborative practice. The ability to contribute collegially to the group practice and laboratory operations will be an important factor in candidate selection
