The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, and Edmonton Zone Clinical Section of Orthopaedic Surgery, Alberta Health Services, is accepting applications for an Adult Orthopaedic Arthroplasty Surgeon.

 

The Arthroplasty service is comprised of 20 surgeons, providing secondary and tertiary care services for the city of Edmonton, northern Alberta, and parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon Territories, and Nunavut. The primary practice site will be the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), with privileging across the Edmonton Zone. 

Candidates must have exemplary surgical skills and clinical judgment. Candidates are expected to participate in all aspects of the academic and clinical mission of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery including: collaborating with a multidisciplinary health care team, involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, contribute to basic and/or clinical research and participate in administrative activities with re-evaluation every two years.

 

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent and a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta.  The successful candidate must have successfully completed advanced fellowship training in hip and knee reconstruction. An advanced research degree such as a Master’s or PhD would be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague appointment in the Department of Surgery, University of Alberta, which will be considered a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

 

Remuneration will be on a fee-for-services basis through billings submitted by the physician to Alberta Health.
