Job Summary:
Join Recovery Alberta to deliver on its promise of accessible, sustainable addiction, mental health, and correctional health services by developing and implementing strategies to meet medical staff needs. There are TWO exciting opportunities for the role of Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) in Recovery Alberta! The ACMOs are key medical leaders providing direction and representing medical staff priorities in organization-wide initiatives. Combining clinical experience and a proven track record in healthcare administration at a senior leadership level, you will be able to balance both organizational needs and address key issues regarding medical staff. An excellent communicator, the ACMO will work collaboratively with medical and operational leaders to ensure that medical staff strategies and priorities are incorporated into clinical services being provided.
As these are provincial positions, the physical work location is negotiable within Alberta. The total FTE for these positions is 1.5FTE. The FTE of each position is expected to be 0.6-0.8 and will be negotiated with the successful candidates thus offering more flexibility to create your ideal work-life balance.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
The ACMOs are responsible and accountable to create and implement a sustainable, systematic approach to medical staff strategies and initiatives. As the ACMO, you will spearhead, articulate and promote the vision for medical staff across the province. You will provide strategic direction, prioritization and lead implementation of quality and safety initiatives in the organization, guiding medical staff engagement and focusing on achieving measurable improvement. You will oversee and direct medical engagement to support the design, development and implementation of policies, tools and strategies related to:
Medical staff workforce strategies.
Medical leadership structures.
Medical staff appointment and privileges.
Strategic partnerships.
Physician health, diversity, development, and wellness.
Service models and compensation.
Medical staff bylaws.
Academic medicine.
Specific accountabilities of each ACMO will be negotiated with the successful candidates.
Qualifications and Required Attributes:
The successful applicants must hold an MD or its equivalency and shall have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, College of Family Physicians of Canada, or an equivalent professional body; obtain and maintain a Medical Staff Appointment; and have at least 5 years of leadership experience in health care with a successful record of achievement as a medical leader in a large and diverse organization.
In addition, preferred qualifications include:
Credentialled as a Canadian Certified Physician Executive (CCPE).
Completed training in quality and safety management.
Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing long term quality services.
Ability to foster partnerships and achieve organizational goals within a large and complex organization.
Experience in provision of treatment of addiction, mental health, and/or correctional health services.
