Qualifications:
Applicants must be a qualified MD or equivalent, with specialist FRCPC certification in anesthesiology, and an eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta for independent anesthesia care.
The applicant must have a fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia and formal training in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. The applicant must have actively practiced in cardiac anesthesia or completed a cardiac anesthesia fellowship within the last 5 years. A period of retraining or supervised orientation to the Calgary Cardiac Anesthesia Operating Room environment may be provided.
Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team are essential.
A collaborative approach to anesthesia practice is essential, as is the ability to be flexible for the purposes of scheduling.
Previous experience in quality improvement/quality assurance or a willingness to obtain future training in this area is strongly preferred. The successful applicant will be expected to take an active role in the Cardiac Anesthesia Section’s QI/QA program.
Regional anesthesia skills and experience with acute pain management is preferred.
Desired competencies include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and must read, write and speak English.
Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.
