Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Zone Department of Addiction &#CD# Mental Health in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine &#CD# Dentistry, Department of Psychiatry, is inviting applications from psychiatrists with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, and speech language pathology provide assistance for more than 1.4 million people in Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
This Child and Adolescent Psychiatry position will serve our outpatient and inpatient youth addictions programs, namely Youth Addictions Services (YAS) Edmonton, Stabilization (voluntary detox), PChAD (involuntary detox) and Recovery (12 week inpatient program). YAS is located in the Nexus building while the other programs are located at Alberta Hospital Edmonton (AHE). Many patients in these programs have comorbid mental health and addiction issues and the Child & Adolescent psychiatrist will be involved in the assessment, stabilization and treatment of these youth.
An interest in the education of residents and students is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and preferably have subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. S/he must also be licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. OAT prescribing credentials would be an asset but not necessary for this position.
