Description:

The Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology within the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for a position as a clinical hepatologist based at the Foothills Medical Centre. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a shared and equitable city-wide hepatology on-call roster. It is also expected that the candidate contribute to teaching within the Division and the incumbent will be part of Calgary’s Central Access and Triage (CAT) system for hepatology – Hep CAT.

This position within the Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology offers the opportunity for a rewarding career as part of a collegial group of gastroenterologists and hepatologists.

We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, across the Calgary Zone.  We are an equal opportunity employer. AHS values the diversity of the people and communities we serve and is committed to attracting, engaging, and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce

Qualifications:

Qualifications include an MD, FRCPC Gastroenterology (or equivalent sub-specialist certification), and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. The successful candidate will have completed a minimum of 1 year of post-gastroenterology fellowship training in hepatology. Although this is a clinical position with no expectation of conducting research, given the high-profile nature of Calgary’s academic liver program, it is expected that the incumbent will help support research activities within the hepatology subsection. As such, advanced training in clinical research will be considered an asset.

Applicants should have a strong background in all aspects of hepatology with an ability to contribute to more subspecialized liver-related care (e.g. liver transplant, autoimmune hepatitis and liver disease in pregnancy)

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Must read, write, and speak English.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.
