Job Description:
Live your ideal balanced lifestyle in the beautiful Rocky Mountains! Our clinic is enthusiastically looking for a full-time adult community psychiatrist to serve our community for the long term. As a result of a retirement and another retirement years ago, our community has been left without any ongoing adult psychiatric care. A mixture of consult services to stabilize a patient, and ongoing in-depth care would be ideal for the patient as well as supporting the local physicians.
Feedback from physicians shows that medication reviews and single-encounter care is less ideal, but there is an openness to shared-care models as well. We have very capable family physicians in one of our seven community clinics in the Bow Valley, but they all agree that psychiatric support would be the most helpful.
The successful candidate will accept referrals from family doctors and local clinicians for mental health concerns, providing community consultation, diagnostic assessment, and treatment recommendations. Services will be provided through a combination of in-person appointments, outpatient clinics, telehealth, and virtual care.
The psychiatrist will assess, diagnose, treat, and stabilize the patients; once stabilized, the patients will be discharged back to the referring physician. Availability to provide follow-up and specialized forms of psychotherapy in complex cases is expected.
Our population is growing, and with our proximity to Calgary, having a professionally fulfilling and rewarding schedule will be easy to obtain. Since our clinic values flexibility, the physician will have flexibility in determining their preference around scheduling and in-person versus virtual care.
There are no hospital call requirements; however, the hospitalist group and ER would be appreciative if the successful candidate offered consult services. Our clinic is physician-owned and managed, and we are enthusiastic about finding an engaged psychiatrist to welcome to our growing team.
Come work your dream career in a dream location!

The other clinic location is in downtown Canmore Our staff are wonderful, our colleagues are welcoming and supportive, and the views from either clinic can't be beaten!
