Job Description:

Provide comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, including preventive, acute, and chronic disease management

Perform assessments, physical examinations, and order/interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, procedures)

Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans and prescribe medications in compliance with CPSA standards

Educate and counsel patients and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of conditions

Coordinate referrals and collaborate with specialists, allied health professionals, and community services

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the clinic's EMR (e.g., Telus Med Access)

Ensure confidentiality and compliance with CPSA Standards of Practice and the Alberta Health Information Act

Maintain ongoing participation in CME and clinic quality improvement initiatives

Collaborate with clinic staff, attend meetings, and contribute to team-based care

Complete documentation for referrals, WCB, insurance, and AHS programs

Adhere to clinic infection control protocols, patient safety measures, and scheduling expectations, including after-hours/on-call duties if required

 

Qualifications:

Approval by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) to enter practice through the Practice Readiness Assessment Pathway

Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized and accredited institution

Active membership or eligibility for membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) with appropriate liability coverage

Valid permit to work in Canada (or eligibility to obtain one)

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in primary care, including preventive, acute, and chronic disease management

Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-centered care skills

Ability to adapt to Alberta's primary care system and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinic environment

Commitment to completing supervision and assessment requirements under the PRA program and transitioning to independent practice
