COMMUNITY: Primary Care Physician - Golden Opportunity Medical Clinic - Wabasca-Desmarais

Qualifications:

Have a current eligibility letter from CPSA.

Preference given to applicants who only require a Supervised Practice Assessment (SPA).

Community Information:

Wabasca also known as Wabasca-Desmarais, is a hamlet in northern Alberta, Canada within the Municipal District (MD) of Opportunity No. 17. It is located between and along the South and North Wabasca Lakes, at the intersection of Highway 813 and Highway 754. It is approximately 123 km northeast of Slave Lake.
The hamlet is largely Indigenous. Residents live on five Indian reserves in the immediate surrounding area. These First Nations reserves include Wabasca 166, 166A, 166B, 166C and 166D of the Bigstone Cree Nation, and the Woodland Cree people.

This mixed indigenous patient population includes all age ranges and all genders. As a disadvantaged population the patient demographic is uniquely complex with substance use issues and significant mental health issues. A lot of obstetric care required and both acute and chronic pediatric care. But generally all range family medicine.
