The Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART) is now accepting applications for on-call physician positions.

CSART is a 24/7 on-call multi-disciplinary service that provides comprehensive trauma informed care to approximately 425 survivors of sexual violence of all ages and genders per year.  Acute, unscheduled medical and forensic care is provided by a team of specially trained nurses, physicians, crisis workers, Police officers and Crown Prosecutors who work together to ensure a coordinated inter-agency approach to care.

Flexible scheduling with an expectation of coverage to include a reasonable number of weekends and overnights, with a response time of 30- 60 minutes once called.  A minimum of 36 hours of on call coverage per month is required with a recommendation of at least 48-72 hours to maintain competence as these are unscheduled visits with an average of 1.2 cases per day.

Remuneration with an on-call stipend and Fee for Service billing for up to 4 hours of continuous care.

Care is provided in the CSART clinic at Sheldon Chumir, and may require travel to any Calgary Emergency Department, Alberta Children’s Hospital, Luna center, AHS urban continuing care facilities or correctional institutions.

Requires AHS privileges specific to CSART, Ambulatory Connect Care experience/training.  In person, virtual and self-directed forensic training/shadowing is provided prior to independence.

CCFP, CCFP(EM), FRCPC Emergency medicine or OBGyn certification is required.  Experience in Women’s Health, Sexual health, Domestic violence, Mental health is preferred.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and have current, or qualify for, Privileging with Alberta Health Services in the Calgary Zone.
