DCNS Deputy Department Head

This position is for the Internal DCNS members only.

The Deputy Head of DCNS will be expected to oversee the following activities:

·         Assist the Department Head in strategic planning for the department in the areas of education, research, clinical care and wellbeing.

·         Provide assistance to the Section Chief’s as needed in designated areas such as alternate funding plan development and renewal, collaborative research and education.

·         Co-chair the Neurosciences Executive Committee together with the Executive Director of Clinical Neurosciences

·         Co-chair the Academic Executive Committee

·         Attend Department Heads (Academic), Zone Clinical Department Heads and other important meetings at the request of the Department Head.

·         Will have signing authority on specified departmental accounts and will sign-off on grant applications as needed in the absence of the Department Head.

·         Assist the Department Head in preparing the Department Annual Report for Alberta Health Services

 The successful candidate is expected to spend 0.1 FTE on this role effective April 1, 2025.   

The selected candidate will be an Associate or full Professor.  Preferred qualifications:

1)      Prior clinical or academic leadership role

2)      Broader experience across all work domains (e.g. clinical, education and research)
