Description:

Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Deputy Zone Clinical Department Head (DZCDH), Continuing Care and Seniors Health, Department of Family Medicine.

This 0.40 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head, Family Medicine.

The Deputy Zone Clinical Department Head, Continuing Care and Seniors Health, will provide overall leadership for Continuing Care and Seniors Health in Edmonton Zone; contributing expert guidance and advice on Zone strategic, planning, and policy matters; and providing leadership to special projects and programmatic development at the request of the Zone Clinical Department Head, Family Medicine.

The Deputy Zone Clinical Department Head Continuing Care and Seniors Health works very closely with the Executive Director Continuing Care within a dyad relationship. The role supports the spectrum of internal stakeholders, other clinical departments, partner agencies (Capital Care), external entities (non-AHS LTC providers), and Academia (University of Alberta Departments of Family Medicine and Medicine).  It serves as a connection to community-based physicians, providing seniors care both in community and in institutional settings.  Given the population of the Edmonton area, this age group is expected to increase in the upcoming decades, making this leadership role vitally important.

The position has an expected start date of approximately January 1, 2025, and an expected term of 3 years.
