Director of Office of Surgical Quality Physician Lead Quality Assurance and Improvement

Qualifications

This position is open to active members of the Department of Surgery, Calgary Zone, who are in good professional standing. The ideal candidate will have an interest in and/or experience in quality improvement methodology. They will have a track record of engaging their team members and implementing programs. They will have effective communication and organizational skills and an ability to foster partnerships with colleagues.

Specific Deliverables:

1. Maintain a comprehensive quality improvement plan for the department in collaboration with the sections and other stakeholders in alignment with institutional priorities.
2. Present updates as needed on progress to the Department of Surgery Surgical Executive Committee and Zone Surgical Services Operations Committee.
3. Lead the Office of Surgical Quality in the Department of Surgery which can serve as a liaison between the sections, the hospital executive staff, the AHS Surgery SCN and medical staff administration.
4. Organize and chair the Department of Surgery Quality Council Committee meetings.
5. Assist in coordinating quality initiatives in the Department of Surgery and collaborate with NSQIP initiatives.
6. Support the section QI and Safety leads and the site NSQIP leads.

Collaboration:

This leader will work closely with the Senior Quality Improvement Consultant in the Department of Surgery. An analyst will also support the position and the Office of Surgical Quality. They will also collaborate with the Department of Surgery Quality and Safety Lead who co-chairs the Calgary zone Surgical Services Quality Assurance Committee.

Accountability:

This leader will work with the assigned Deputy Department Head of Surgery and will report to the Department Head of Surgery.

0.15 FTE  

($38,475.00 per annum)
