Recovery Alberta is seeking a dedicated and compassionate physician to join our multidisciplinary team in Addiction Medicine. This role is an exciting opportunity for a physician with a specialized interest in addiction recovery, providing care within a bed-based treatment setting and hope-inspired clinical environment.
The successful candidate will provide medical care at the Henwood Treatment Centre (HTC) and collaborate with a diverse team of counselors, therapists, nurses, psychiatrists, social workers, and administrative professionals. Henwood currently provides a 3 week live-in stabilization treatment service for individuals with substance use and concurrent mental health concerns.
Key responsibilities include:
• Multidisciplinary conference with clinical staff to review medical and psychiatric care needs of new admissions to Henwood as well as discharging patients
•Conducting comprehensive health assessments as clinically indicated
• Providing primary care support and medical oversight for patients early recovery
• Assessment and optimization of Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) and relapse prevention medications for alcohol use disorder
• Offering clinical counseling and coaching to patients
•
• Providing referrals for ongoing treatment and aftercare
• Contributing to medical leadership and consultation within the multidisciplinary team
Time Commitment & On-Call Requirements
• As indicated by the medical lead
• Periodic evening on-call coverage (from home)
• Periodic weekend on-call coverage (from home)
Qualifications:
• MD degree (CCFP designation preferred)
• Certification or specialization in Addiction Medicine (preferred), or a strong interest/experience in addiction care.
• Experience managing addiction treatment, including Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT), alcohol anti-craving regimens, is an asset.
Salary/Benefits:
• Fee-for-service remuneration
• Hourly on-call rate
