Alberta Health Services is inviting applications from Family Physicians to join the Department of Family Medicine in the Edmonton Zone under a joint partnership with AHS and Devon Medical Clinic. This combined clinical practice position is a flexible combination between the Devon Medical Clinic and either acute or primary care work with Alberta Health Services in the Edmonton Zone. This position will accept applications from physicians who are sponsorship eligible.
Devon Medical Clinic is a full-service family practice in the Town of Devon, Alberta, located around 20km southwest of Edmonton. We are a group family practice with a focus on team-based care. Our community has a significant shortage of physicians, so building a panel of patients will not be difficult and take very little time. We are affiliated with the Leduc-Beaumont-Devon PCN. Our clinic uses the AVA EMR system.
The AHS component of this position will be at the Devon General Hospital (DGH) in the Family Medicine Program which serves individuals with acute, severe and complex health issues. The inpatient Family Medicine Program offers treatment by an interdisciplinary health care team consisting of consisting of nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, social workers, and pharmacists. The team works closely with specialists and subspecialists at facilities throughout the Edmonton Zone, with no on-site specialist support at DGH. The Family Medicine hospitalist will maintain contact with community practitioners carefully protecting continuity between acute care and community care. Participation in the acute care on-call roster is an expectation for the position.

Qualifications:
Successful Candidates will have a functional knowledge of resources and challenges in Alberta’s primary health care system. This knowledge will be supported by the candidate having completed a two-year Family Medicine Residency and by ongoing community primary care experience.
We are interested in candidates with superior interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and peer relationships. The successful candidate should be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of Family Medicine.
The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians and of Canada and for medical licensure in the province of Alberta. A preference is for those who have already completed the TDM exams (if required due to your jurisdiction of training) please see the CPSA website for more detail.
