Job Summary:

 

The Indigenous Wellness Core, would like to invite expressions of interest from Family Medicine Physicians to provide services at the Indigenous Wellness Clinic, Royal Alexandra Hospital site Edmonton.

 

The clinic is open Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; there is availability for 2-3 clinic days per week based on clinic schedule and patient needs. Drop down space is available, and the clinic has administrative support in place for coordination of scheduling appointments.

 

The Indigenous Wellness Clinic at Anderson Hall provides a culturally informed and safe environment for Indigenous patients and their families to receive care and work towards their best possible health within a multidisciplinary team. You will work collaboratively with other health care professionals, including nurses, dietitian, physiotherapist, wellness navigators and administrative support. The family physicians have varying practice interests including but not limited to reproductive and sexual health, hepatitis c, pediatrics, chronic disease management, and palliative care. The Diabetes Program offers a monthly four (4) day, culturally holistic diabetes education program in addition to individual appointments with an Endocrinologist.

 

Qualifications and Required Attributes:

 

The successful candidate must hold an MD or its equivalency and shall have or be eligible for certification with the Canadian College of Family Physicians or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and shall have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

 

The successful candidate will be competent in managing complex and chronic medical conditions and recognize the effects of social determinants of health. They will have demonstrated inclusion for all regardless of nationality, age, gender, sexuality, or means. They will work within a trauma informed and harm reduction framework. They will have strong people skills and work well within a team environment.

Reporting Relationship:

 

The practitioner will report to the Medical Director, Indigenous Wellness Clinic, Anderson Hall.  

 

Additional Information:

 

Physicians working at the Indigenous Wellness Clinic are compensated through the Indigenous Wellness Program Clinical ARP. The current hourly rate is $197.37 per hour subject to a 5% admin fee. To join physicians are required to sign an ARP Letter of Participation and AHS Medical Services Agreement outlining location, FTE, salary payment details and terms and conditions of employment.
