Facility Department Head (FDH) – Perioperative Medicine – Perioperative Medicine
Appointment, Accountability and Performance Review:
1. The FDH – Perioperative Medicine is the front-line physician leader for a Department/Section within a Regional Hospital and its Area as per AHS Medical Staff Bylaw (MSB) 2.6.5. He/she is appointed by the Zone Medical Director through the process outlined in AHS Medical Staff Rule (MSR) 2.1.1.
2. FDH’s – Perioperative Medicine shall report to the Regional Hospital’s Facility Medical Director (FMD) as per MSB 2.0.2.2 for operational decisions as determined by the Zone Medical Director (ZMD). FDH’s – Perioperative Medicine shall work with their respective Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), or Zone Program Head (ZPH) – Perioperative Medicine as per MSB 2.0.2.1 for policy development, organizational planning and strategic decision making.
3. If appropriate, a FDH’s – Perioperative Medicine may concurrently hold another medical administrative leadership position within the Zone Medical Organizational Structure, such as Associate Zone Medical Director (AZMD) or Zone Program Head, or ZCDH;
4. Performance evaluations of a FDH’s – Perioperative Medicine are undertaken by the FMD or ZMD designate.
