Alberta Health Services – North Zone, and the Department of Hospital Medicine at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, are currently looking for a General Internal Medicine specialist to join their current team of Specialists, in the community of Fort McMurray.
The successful Internal Medicine specialist will hold ongoing Alberta Health Services hospital privileges, within the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre and is required to offer services within the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre and out of a community-based Specialty practice, within the community of Fort McMurray.
The candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.
Duties include but not limited to:
• Reside in and have as his/her primary residence within the community of Fort McMurray.
• Establish and maintain full time community-based practice within the community.
• Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services.
• Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including equal participation in the Internal Medicine call schedule, as required.
• Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies.
• Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Internal Medicine.
• Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.
• Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties, as assigned.
• Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.

We Are Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo
- Current Alberta Practice Permit or valid CPSA Letter of Eligibility to practice in the advertised position (proof of to be included with application).
- Have subspecialty certification or equivalent in Internal Medicine services, or has completed, or currently enrolled in an Internal Medicine training program.
- Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC).
- Recent and relevant experience (within the past 1-2 years) in all areas of practice required, as Most Responsible Physician.
- Must have Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) or be FRCPC Eligible.
- Have subspecialty certification or equivalent in Critical Care services or has completed or currently enrolled in a Critical Care training program.
