Special consideration will be given to candidates with additional training and/or dedicated clinical experience in advanced pediatric minimally invasive surgery, pediatric surgical oncology, intestinal failure, chest wall reconstruction, pediatric colorectal disease, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or other dedicated program development opportunity. Similarly, additional consideration will be given to candidates with advanced training or experience in surgical education, quality improvement and/or applied research.
The successful candidate will become the 7th member of the Division of Pediatric General Surgery, Section of Pediatric Surgery. The Division provides a full range of neonatal and pediatric surgical specialty care for the children of Southern Alberta and surrounding regions. Members have embraced a collaborative model to advance patient care and quality improvement. The surgeon will take call according to the site and Alberta Health Services policies. They will have an office onsite with an overhead agreement and will be remunerated as part of the Pediatric General Surgery Clinical Alternative Relationship plan.
There is a strong academic vision in the Division, including a commitment to education, quality improvement, and research. It is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to both the clinical and academic mandate and to have an appointment with the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. The Division runs an accredited Royal College Pediatric Surgery training program, and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in medical student and resident teaching.
