Covenant Health, in partnership with Alberta Health Services and the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Pediatrics, invites applications for a Locum General Pediatrician to be based primarily at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta
The successful candidate will participate with a group of 8 private practice pediatricians with admitting privileges to Grey Nuns Community Hospital. The applicant would engage in a full range of community pediatrics with duties including:
Participating on the call coverage for the GNCH with newborn admitting privileges and consultation to NICU for neonates transitioning to home as needed. The on-call physician is expected to round on all non-assigned newborns the morning following being on call (averaging 12-20 newborns). On call duties would also include being available for consultations from GNCH ER as well as from post-partum and community public health nurses.
The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
This position holds a locum term of 1 year, with the possibility of an extension of the locum term.
FTE is negotiable at the time of interview but can be 0.5-1.0.
Required:
· MD or equivalent.
· Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
· Certification in Pediatrics with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
· Expertise and commitment to quality care and patient safety.
· Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the healthcare environment.
· Understanding of Just Culture and its role in healthcare.
Preferred:
· An interest in community pediatrics or subspecialty training in areas aligned with community pediatrics activities is preferred.
