Qualifications required include a MD, certification in Internal Medicine, eligibility for regular licensure in the Province of Alberta, and sub-specialty training in General Internal Medicine. An advanced research degree such as a Master’s degree in Public Policy or Public Health is also required. The successful candidate will be involved in public policy and health equity research and leadership, and would participate in teaching at the University of Calgary in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate clinical and academic programs. The position will have 50% protected time for research and 20% protected time for health policy related administrative roles within the Cumming School of Medicine and the University of Calgary. Duties will also include providing clinical care to patients as part of their membership within the Section/Division of General Internal Medicine.
Applicants must present evidence of success as a clinician researcher, as demonstrated through academic productivity in terms of presentations, publications, policy reports and grant funding. They should also have evidence of leadership experience in the areas of pluralism, public policy and health equity. Evidence of successful teaching and/or graduate supervision would be an asset. Evidence of collaborations with other researchers and academic engagement in professional and other communities will be assessed.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
