You will provide medical services to the patients at the East Calgary Family Care clinic located in Forrest Lawn at the East Calgary Health Centre operated through Primary Care Alberta. This includes all duties related to excellence in providing a highly functional Patient-centered Medical Home such as continuity of care, access for patients, quality improvement activities, teaching of learners, participation in clinic meetings, interdisciplinary care (mental health, social work, physiotherapy, pharmacy, occupational therapy, dieticians, nursing, nurse practitioners), and system integration work with other partners in the Calgary area, specifically in regard to high needs clients. This physician will care for a shared panel of complex patients. The panel is shared with another providers who has a similar FTE.
This is a 0.4 FTE position at the East Calgary Family Care Centre covering for a physician on leave from June 1, 2025 to August 1, 2026 and includes working occasional evenings and some weekends.
This clinic serves a complex, high needs patient population in an area of the city that has been identified as having access and continuity demands greater than other areas in our jurisdiction. The clinic is open 9 am to 9 pm on weekdays, 9 am to 5 pm on weekends and statutory holidays. Weekend and evening coverage is shared between providers. This clinic works closely with community partners in the NE of Calgary.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a license to practice Family Medicine in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and have a designation as a certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or equivalent, with experience in primary care clinical service delivery. An active Medical Staff Appointment with Alberta Health Services will be a requirement. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest and expertise in the management of complex primary care patients and expert level skills in relationship building and communication. Training for Connect Care EMR will be required and this would be a benefit to already have.
The candidate must also be member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association or have suitable liability insurance to the satisfaction of AHS. They will also require a security check (police information check and vulnerable sector search) from a local police agency where they have lived for at least 6 months, and a completed communicable disease assessment .
