Position Description: 

The Department of Pediatrics (DoP), invite applicants to apply to a Locum 1.0 FTE, AMHSP Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, in the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. This role may be split by more than one physician and may be for a duration of less than one year.

The term of this position has a target start date of October 1, 2025, until September 30, 2026, with the possibility of an extension.

The position is supported as 1.0 FTE with 80% clinical activity with the expectation that the successful candidate will also contribute broadly to the academic and educational activities of the Section. The relative contributions to the research, education and/or administration that comprise the remaining 20% of the position will be allocated based on the successful candidate’s goals and interests in alignment with opportunities and needs in the Section. If more than one physician is hired into this role, the required clinical component may be subject to change.

The successful candidate will provide clinical expertise across the full spectrum of pediatric infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings. A proportional amount of on call services on evenings, weekends and statutory holidays will be provided by the successful candidate. The successful applicant will contribute, in proportion to their FTE, to Undergraduate, Resident, and Continuing Medical Education. 

The Department of Pediatrics has over 400 clinical and academic faculty members who are part of the rapidly growing Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Qualifications: 

Qualifications include certification in Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.
