Banff Sport Medicine (BSM) in partnership with Covenant Health is seeking a talented and motivated orthopedic surgeon trained in knee and/or shoulder arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery. This position offers the opportunity to practice in the beautiful Canadian Rockies with a collegial and collaborative orthopedic group and multi-disciplinary sport medicine team. The start date for the position will be discussed at the time of interview.
Position Overview:
- Clinic duties at a multi-disciplinary sport medicine clinic in Canmore, Alberta.
- Operating room privileges at the Mineral Springs Hospital (MSH) in Banff, Alberta. MSH is a community hospital with two operating rooms that provide orthopaedic and plastic surgery services only. At least four dedicated elective operating room days will be allotted per month, with the opportunity for additional time as it becomes available.
- Orthopaedic on-call coverage in a 1-in-4 rotation.
- Collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team with regular participation in team meetings, case rounds, journal clubs, and administrative responsibilities.
- Teaching and mentorship for the orthopedic sport medicine fellow, as well as elective residents and medical students.
- Participation in BSM’s active research program. A strong motivation to conduct research and participate in publication and presentation is expected.
- Engagement in community education and outreach programs through the Banff Sport Medicine Foundation.
- Opportunity for visiting surgeon privileges in our satellite clinic in Golden, British Columbia.
- Opportunity for ownership in Banff Sport Medicine Group Incorporated.

• Successful completion of a Canadian orthopaedic residency training program and/or certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)
• Fellowship training in orthopaedic sports medicine and/or knee or shoulder arthroscopic surgery
• Eligibility for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
• Canadian citizen or permanent resident
