Description:

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Respirology is seeking a 1.0 FTE position to cover a one-year leave, starting April 2025. This role will consist of 80% clinical time and 20% education time. 

Acute care clinical duties will include patient consultation work on the inpatient wards, direct in-patient admission under the respiratory service, and on call duties. Outpatient responsibilities including completion of ambulatory clinics, bronchoscopy in the OR and interpretation of pulmonary function studies will comprise the remainder of the clinical work.  A respirologist with experience and expertise in pediatric asthma (including complex severe asthma), general pulmonary medicine, experience caring for patients with complex respiratory conditions requiring long term oxygen support, would be highly valued.

We have an active respiratory sub-specialty training program as well as several undergraduate and postgraduate learners that rotate through our section. The successful candidate will work closely with the training program director to bolster the current learning opportunities for our respiratory trainees, develop learning opportunities and coordinate the educational activities of the trainees that rotate through our division. 

The final composition of clinical work will be determined in collaboration with the section in the priority of areas of greatest immediate need. The final composition of clinical work will also include provision of on-call services for nights, weekends, and holidays shared amongst the physician group.

Qualifications: 

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
