Description: 

The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health, invites applications for a locum physician to be based at the University of Alberta.  Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.  The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff. 

 

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine provides a wide range of quaternary and tertiary clinical services in Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy and is home to the second largest lung transplant program in Canada averaging 60-80 transplants annually. In 2017, the Center for World University Rankings ranked the University of Alberta’s Transplant Program #6 worldwide.

Divisional members are active in the international research community in most fields of Pulmonary Medicine

Key accountabilities of the locum physician will include but will not be limited to participating in the Lung Transplant Program’s clinical roster (including inpatient ward, outpatient clinics, consultation, and bronchoscopy services).

 

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Qualifications: 

The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), have Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) certification in Respirology and, preferably, a fellowship in lung transplant. Strong asset is a proven track record in the field of lung transplant.
