LOCUM - Rural Family Medicine Physician - Bow Island

Alberta Health Services, South Zone is currently seeking Locum Family Physicians for the community of Bow Island. This coverage would include Inpatient, Outpatient and Acute Care. Call support as per AHS call schedules and expectations including ER on call rotation for Rural Medicine practices in the South Zone at Bow Island. On call coverage with on-call payments in accordance with the Alberta Medical Association agreement. 

Bow Island is a charming town in southeastern Alberta, strategically located along Highway 3 only 60 km from Medicine Hat and 320 km southeast of Calgary. This location provides easy access to urban amenities while preserving the tranquility of rural life. With a population of just over 2,000, it offers affordable living, excellent schools, and a strong sense of community. The town is rooted in agriculture, with a mix of locally owned businesses and cultural attractions like live music at Blues at the Bow. Bow Island is home to a full-service health centre and is actively investing in healthcare sustainability, making it an appealing location for physicians seeking a rewarding rural practice. 

The Bow Island Health Centre is a 24/7 acute and continuing care facility that includes a 24-hour emergency department, 10 acute care beds, 20 long-term care beds, and the Alfred Egan Home, an assisted living facility for individuals with developmental challenges. The Bow Island Medical Clinic provides full-scope family medicine and outreach services to nearby communities like Foremost.
