Description:

The Section of Medical Genetics and Department of Pediatrics invite applications for a locum Clinical Geneticist. The successful candidate(s) will provide care for patients referred to clinical genetics. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical genetics consult service. The position will fill in for a temporarily vacant 0.5 FTE, with an appointment that is 90% clinical and 10% administrative. This position reports to the Section Chief of Medical Genetics.
The Section of Medical Genetics is located at the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) with a site at the Cambrian Wellness Centre, providing comprehensive clinical genetic services for prenatal, pediatric and adult patients and families. The Section of Medical Genetics has 12 clinical geneticists on staff with extensive support of 20 genetic counselors and 5 genetics assistants plus administrative support staff.  Our medical genetics residency program has seven current residents and fellows. There are comprehensive on-site genetic laboratory services including biochemical, cytogenetic, molecular and exome sequencing laboratories.

Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, certification or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians in Medical Genetics or the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists in Clinical Genetics, or equivalent.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.
