Alberta Health Services is now looking for someone like you for the role of Medical Lead, under the Indigenous Health Programs’ Program Improvement Network.

  

As the Medical Lead within the Program Improvement Network (PIN), you will have the opportunity to influence change in health service delivery for distinctions based Indigenous Peoples on a provincial scale. Working in a partnership with the Senior Medical Director and consulting with a wide range of healthcare stakeholders, you will provide a medical perspective as you work to improve health system outcomes, synergy, and coordination across the provincial health system. The recommendations and actions you take will be used to improve overall outcomes of the provincial health system, reducing unnecessary variations and raising the standard of care across the province.

   

AHS is organized into five geographic Zones. As this is a provincial position, the physical work location is negotiable within the five Zones. This role requires travel to locations throughout the province to conduct meetings with stakeholders, including front-line staff from all five Zones. Job Description:

 

The Medical Lead of a Program Improvement and Integration Network (PIN) is a key position within Alberta Health Services. Reporting to the Senional Leads (OL), Integration Leads (IL), executive team, operational leaders, working groups and Office of Partnerships for Health System Research, Innovation & Improvement (OP) on the identification, planning, and development of PIN initiatives, opportunities, priorities, and actions aimed to improve outcomes, synergy, and coordination across the provincial health system. This includes establishing metrics and indicators to identify ways to standardize care and promote adoption of evidence-based workflows, order sets, and care pathways, and embedding these into Connect Care.

The ML is also responsible for building and nurturing partnerships across the health system and engaging key stakeholders (both within and outside the PIN) to improve health outcomes, translate evidence into practice, and share and scale quality improvements across the province. This role requires travel for face-to-face meetings with stakeholders across the province. To facilitate this, the SMD and ML along with the OL, and IL will develop strategies and mechanisms to foster and enhance communication across the network and connect key stakeholders, including front-line clinicians, and incorporate their feedback, building trust, consensus, and positive relationships with all health disciplines.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

The successful applicant will hold an MD or its equivalency and shall have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada and shall have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Preference will be given to candidates with training or experience in Indigenous Health.

 

Additional Required Qualifications:

This person must be an effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing long term quality services. Proven relationship-building skills with the ability to build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a large, complex organization preferred. Previous experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities preferred.
