Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair - Zone Medical Administrative Committee (ZMAC), Calgary Zone.
The ZMAC Chair will Provide leadership and direction to the Calgary Zone Medical Administrative Committee (ZMAC) in advising the Zone Medical Director in the fulfilment of responsibilities identified by the AHS Bylaws and Rules. The Committee may consider, advise and report on matters including but not limited to:
o Support the timely implementation and compliance with the AHS Bylaws and Rules
o Promoting Quality and Safe Patient Care
o Zone Service Planning and Delivery
o Zone input into Practitioner workforce planning Interdisciplinary patient care
o Zone-level interaction with respect to the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules
o Facilitate communication and dissemination of essential information to practitioners.
The Chair will Provide leadership and direction to the Calgary Zone Applications Review Committee (ZARC) to support
the committee in fulfilling responsibilities identified by the AHS Bylaws and Rules in the appointment of practitioners in the Calgary Zone while acting as a liaison between AHS medical leadership and the Calgary Area Medical Staff Society (CAMSS) leadership.
At the request of the Zone Medical Director, the Chair will participate and provide leadership on issues that may arise relating to:
o Aligning medical staff participation and input to operational and strategic planning in the Calgary Zone
o Review and provide input to AHS policy impacting practitioners and patient care
o Requests for input by other professional organizations and regulatory bodies on critical patient care/service delivery issues
o Dispute resolution for issues arising between individual practitioners, provider groups and other stakeholders
o Act as a member of the Provincial Practitioner Executive Committee (PPEC) to support the committee in fulfilling its responsibilities identified in the AHS Bylaws and Rules
o Act as a member of subcommittees and working groups of PPEC including the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules Review Committee.

We are searching for an outstanding leader to Chair the Zone Medical Administrative Committee. Qualifications include an MD, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. The selected candidate must have proven leadership, communication, organizational, change management, team building and facilitation skills. A proven track record in equity, diversity and inclusion and staff wellness should be evident. Strong communication skills are paramount. The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Must read, write and speak English.
