Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for the position of Medical Site Lead, Virtual Home Hospital (VHH), Rockyview General Hospital under the Calgary Zone Medical Affairs Portfolio.
In a competent and professional manner, the Contractor will:
The Medical (Site) Lead for the Virtual Home Hospital (VHH) program is responsible for planning and coordination of VHH physician services at the respective site. In collaboration with the VHH Unit Manager, and the other VHH Medical Leads (Calgary Zone), the site VHH Medical Lead is responsible for participating in the ongoing management, development and evaluation of the program at their site, and the activities, reporting and reimbursement of the physicians.
Major Accountabilities
• Works in a collaborative relationship and in a dyad partnership with the VHH Unit Manager.
• Ensure there is VHH physician coverage 24/7 for their site (on site and via phone/ videoconference).
• Communicate AHS physician responsibilities and standards to the VHH physician group.
• Ensure that the Clinical Alternative Relationship Plan VHH physician remuneration is accurate and accounted for by shadow billing such that it can be reported monthly to Alberta Health and Medical Affairs.
• Ensure that all VHH physician timesheets and shadow billing is submitted by all site VHH physicians in a timely manner

Roles and Responsibilities
A. Physician Management
a) Responsible for service coverage management (scheduling, ensuring continuous physician coverage at their site, overseeing administrator updating call schedule on ROCA, overseeing physician-specific aspects of care delivery)
b) Reviews Reporting and Learning Service (RLS) reports for VHH for their site and collaborates with the VHH Unit Manager and the Calgary Zone CCH Medical Lead in addressing issues related to physician services.
c) Responsible for reviewing / investigating patient concerns/complaints regarding medical care provided by VHH physicians and liaising with the Calgary Zone VHH Medical Director (who may escalate it to the Associate Zone Medical Director), and AHS Office of Patient Relations as needed.
d) Ensures all physicians participating in VHH are orientated to the service and physician resources are updated and maintained on the VHH SharePoint site.
B. Financial
a) On a monthly basis, review and sign off on the time pay sheets and shadow billing for the VHH physicians at the site. Provide this information to the Calgary Zone VHH Medical Director and /or Clinical ARP authorized representatives by the 10th of each month to facilitate reporting to Alberta Health and prompt payment of physicians by Medical Affairs.
b) Update site physicians if there is a change in shadow billing codes or other cARP-related issues and obtain votes on cARP issues as needed.
C. Committee Work
a) Participates in the development of all aspects of Best Practices in Hospital at Home and integration of care at their site.
b) Attends monthly, and as needed meetings with the Calgary Zone VHH Medical Director
c) Supports program and quality improvement initiatives for VHH at their site and/or in the zone.

Qualifications:
The successful candidates require specialty certification in Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (R4 or R5 or equivalent), or Family Medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada, with training in Hospitalist Medicine. Applying physicians must be eligible for licensing by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
