The successful applicant shall have or be eligible for certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be eligible for unrestricted licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Extra training and/or areas of special interest will be required to be considered for this position. Additional skills or training in education, leadership or experience with underserved communities would be considered an asset.  As a generalist, the candidate will also be expected to have a general obstetrics and gynecology practice.

The successful candidate will have superior interpersonal skills and be a proven team player. The ability to work congenially within a group setting is an absolute prerequisite. The candidate will be expected to participate in the medical education program.  Minimum obstetrical numbers will be an expectation of the successful candidate, as well as participation in the call roster. Currently 22 Obstetrician Gynecologists participate in the on-call roster, with a 2 person in-house on call 24/7, with operating room time also allocated with the position.

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, University of Alberta.  This will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry which has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions and is located in Edmonton.
