Description:

The Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program, Alberta Health Services, in collaboration with Covenant Health, is currently accepting applications for specialized, qualified Palliative Care Physicians to work in a variety of clinical settings on a full-time or part-time basis. The Program delivers comprehensive, integrated palliative care to adult patients in the community setting, acute care and oncology facilities, hospices, and a tertiary palliative care unit.

 Responsibilities/Duties:

The Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program requires recruitment of Palliative Care Physicians to work in a variety of clinical settings on a full-time or part-time basis to fill current gaps and accommodate changes in staffing across the zone (moves, retirements, LOA's and reduction of FTE's). This position will help reduce the current gaps in clinical coverage and ensure ongoing maintenance of present consult service availability and coverage. The Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program delivers comprehensive, integrated palliative care in the community where hospices are also supported, acute care and oncology facilities and a tertiary palliative care unit.

Physicians working in Palliative Care Consult Services report to the Section Chief of Edmonton Zone Palliative Care. Clinical duties may include admission and ongoing care of patients in the Tertiary Palliative Care Unit, and completion of consults and follow-up visits on all other consultative services. In each site in the program, the physician will work with an interdisciplinary team and will be involved in teaching medical learners. Specific scheduling for weekday work will be dependent on the needs of the primary work site assigned. In addition, the successful applicant will share weekday on-call responsibility for their primary work site, and for the Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program on weekends.

Qualifications:

Qualified physicians will have completed either CFPC (College of Family Physicians of Canada) Enhanced Skills Residency training in Palliative Care or RCSPC (Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Canada) Palliative Medicine subspecialty training (or equivalent education). An interest in research in Palliative Medicine would be an asset.

Interested physicians must be eligible for a full, unrestricted license in Alberta and hold current CMPA coverage. Physicians with CCFP or FRCPC designations will be given priority.

 Salary/Benefits:

Remuneration will be through fee for service billing.

 Recruiter Contact:

Interviews will be scheduled and completed via Zoom. Interested persons who meet the above qualifications should forward a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, the names & contact information of three references to:
