The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Critical Care, at the Alberta Children’s Hospital invite applicants to apply for a 0.50 FTE Locum Intensivist, starting June 1, 2025 until December 31, 2025.
This 0.50 FTE, six month Locum position will be 100% Clinical, providing consults, admissions and management of critically ill children at the Alberta Children's Hospital and within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The position will involve working day and night shifts as well as weekends depending on the unit needs. Intensivists at the Alberta Children's Hospital also act as medical control of the pediatric transport team and receives telephone consult for Southern Alberta through RAAPID South.
The PICU provides care to 900 children per annum as mixed, closed general medical and surgical intensive care with an overall mortality of 2%. We provide extracorporeal life support, extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, continuous renal replacement therapy, high frequency oscillation, inhaled nitric oxide therapy, as well as conventional mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation and inotropic support. Pediatric cardiac surgery is not performed at the ACH.

Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, certification in Pediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Must have certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) are desired.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
