The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for an academic position within the Division of Pediatric Dermatology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. This position is a part of the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP).
This position is a full time (1.0 FTE) tenure track (contingent) position, comprising approximately 60% time for clinical service and 40% time for academic pursuits divided between research, teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable). The successful candidate will contribute to education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the Royal College-accredited Dermatology residency program.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Excellence: Provide inpatient and outpatient dermatology care at the Stollery Children’s Hospital and Edmonton Zone pediatric sites, and participate equitably in after-hours on-call coverage.
- Education and Mentorship: Teach and mentor learners at all levels in clinical and academic settings. Collaborate with the dermatology training program to deliver didactic lectures, OSCEs, and written exams for pediatric and dermatology trainees.
- Research Contribution: Conduct impactful research in pediatric dermatology and engage with the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI), which provides a robust infrastructure for research excellence in women’s and children’s health.
- Collaboration and Engagement: Work closely with adult dermatology programs, interdisciplinary teams, and healthcare professionals to advance pediatric dermatology care and the education of pediatric and adult dermatology trainees.
The Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI) supports researchers within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry and Alberta Health Services. With a focus on advancing women’s, children’s, and perinatal health, WCHRI provides extensive resources for faculty conducting research in these areas.
Qualifications
Interested applicants must have:
● MD degree (or equivalent).
● Completed specialty training in Pediatrics or Dermatology, with fellowship training in Pediatric Dermatology.
● A proven record of high-quality research achievements, as evidenced by peer-reviewed funding and high-impact publications.
● Eligibility to obtain a specialist license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and appropriate liability coverage.
