Description:
The successful candidates will join the Stollery Emergency Department physicians providing clinical pediatric emergency services as part of a rotation, in addition to on-call-coverage. Candidates will also be involved in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates as part of regular rotations.
The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is affiliated with the Stollery Children’s Hospital and Alberta Health Services. The division has established research programs; an outstanding Royal College approved resident training program and collaborative relationships with other divisions and research groups at the University of Alberta.
The Stollery Children’s Hospital Emergency Department provides 24/7 emergency services, and sees 55,000 patients annually, approximately 150 patients per day. It is a full-service pediatric hospital with a unique physical design and patient-care approach. The positions are needed to fill the clinical need and rotation gaps within the Pediatric Emergency.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to teamwork, process building and peer relationships.
Interested applicants should hold an MD or equivalent and be eligible for licensure in Alberta, have a fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and have demonstrated clinical leadership.
All physicians hired to the Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine are required to have current ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification or certification must be completed within 6 months of hire.
