The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, is seeking a long term FFS locum starting March 1, 2025, for one year.
The successful Clinician will provide clinical care to pediatric inpatients and work a variety of most responsible physician or consult hospital pediatrician shifts in acute or complex care team, teaching teams and an admitting team in a 24/7 care model with in-house coverage. The position will be scheduled with an expectation to work a proportion of nights and weekend in-house shifts.
The role will include the supervision of medical students, residents, PHM Fellows, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and be part of the Code Blue Team, led by PICU. Additionally there will professional responsibility outside of the clinical role, in one of our 4 pillars: Clinical, Education, Quality and Safety and Research, which is non-remunerated, such as attending Section meetings, submitting billing, completing trainee evaluations, familiarizing themselves with any new clinical processes, and participating Section CME.
The Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine holds the aspirational vision of being at the forefront of our developing subspecialty. We have academic members with expertise in Quality Improvement and Medical Education and we launched an academic Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship in July 2018. Our clinical members have diverse interests and support the academic mission of the Section. We are a very cohesive and collaborative group.
The Department of Pediatrics has over 300 clinical and academic faculty members who are part of the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary.

Qualifications include certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics.
The candidate must be eligible for an independent practice permit with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Candidates must hold current certifications in both CPR and PALS. An established commitment to excellence in clinical care and an interest in medical education and teaching will be an asset.
