Description:

 

The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for a dual certified Pediatric Ophthalmologist and Pediatric Neuro-ophthalmologist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. 

 

The successful candidate will be expected to have a clinical appointment with the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Surgery.  The successful candidate is expected to participate in medical student, resident and fellowship teaching, including direct clinical and surgical teaching and didactic lectures.  Prior involvement in educational leadership is required. The successful candidate would be expected to help lead the pediatric ophthalmology section and administrative leadership would be an asset.

 

The candidate will work primarily within the pediatric ophthalmology service at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.  The candidate will be expected to participate in retinopathy of prematurity screening of neonates at all NICUs across the city.  In addition, the successful candidate will have on-call obligation in accordance with the section of Ophthalmology. 

 

The successful candidate will become a member of the Section of Ophthalmology and the Section of Pediatric Surgery. 

Qualifications:

 

Required qualification include a MD, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Ophthalmology, or equivalent. The candidate must have a minimum of one year fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and formal fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology.

 

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.  Please visit College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta for more information www.cpsa.ab.

The candidate must read, write, and speak English fluently.

 

This position is considered sponsorship eligible by Alberta Health Services.
